GUWAHATI: During rush hour on Thursday morning in Guwahati, a speeding city bus is said to have hit three private vehicles, injuring its occupants and blocking the road, causing a major traffic bottleneck atop the Ganeshguri flyover. The incident reportedly happened early on Thursday morning when the bus with the licence plate "AS 01 HC 1483" reportedly lost control and collided with the three automobiles on the flyover, resulting in a minor pileup.

Along with the bus, the three involved automobiles also sustained significant damage. The drivers and passengers of the cars reportedly suffered just minor wounds. Dispur police arrived on the location to assess the situation after the event. On the other hand, at least 40 people suffered severe injuries in a huge accident that involved a bus on Tuesday morning in Chapar, Assam's Dhubri district. The passenger bus with the registration number "AS 25 BC 1860" lost control and collided with a tree by the side of the road on National Highway No. 17 close to Haitpota hamlet.

According to sources, the bus was travelling at a high speed when the driver lost control and struck a roadside tree because of the heavy rain.

As many as three passenger buses (two ultra-buses and a day-super bus) were involved in an accident earlier yesterday in Kachanjuri neighbourhood in Kaliabor, which is part of the Nagaon district.

According to information, the traffic accident injured about ten persons, who were taken to Kaliabor Civil Hospital for further care. The major highway connecting Upper and Lower Assam, route 37, was shut after the incident and remained thus for several hours.

According to eyewitnesses, improper overtaking and lane drifting caused the crash between the three buses.

In June, in Barpeta, a car accident left two toddlers and at least five other individuals injured. They were all injured when the vehicle they were riding in reportedly lost control and slammed into a marsh.

On National Highway 27, near Pathsala, the event was reported. After the collision, the injured passengers were removed from the vehicle and taken to Swahid Madan Routa Hospital in Pathsala.
