GUWAHATI: The Dispur police station in Guwahati which is curretly located near the Assam Secretariat will soon be relocated to a new place.
As per reports, the Dispur police station will be shifted to Ganeshguri area in the city and will be located near the Gopal Boro government higher secondary school in Ganeshguri area.
However, the shifting process of the Dispur police station from its current location to its new address will be completed within the next 10-15 days.
It is to be mentioned here that both Guwahati police commissioner Harmeet Singh and joint commissioner of Guwahati police – Partha Sarathi Mahanta, on Tuesday, inspected the new premises of the Dispur police station in Ganeshguri area of Guwahati in Assam.
The Dispur Police Station is the second-oldest police station in Guwahati and it is busy to boot. It tackles all cases of the High Security zone, including those of the Ministers' Colony, MLAs' Hostel, Janata Bhawan and the Assam Legislative Assembly. This apart, the police station has jurisdiction over a large area of east Guwahati. There are two police outposts under it.
Earlier, after 68 years the office of the Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Kamrup Metro district has been shifted from Panbazar to Khadi Haat in Hengrabari.
According to a notification issued, several branches have already been shifted to the new location.
The branches that have been shifted are Development branch, RTI branch, Bakijai Branch, District Sainik Welfare Board, Land Reforms Branch, ITDP Branch, Census branch, NRC branch and Nazarat branch.
