GUWAHATI: Guwahati Foodie, an online community of more than 1,00,000 food lovers, on Friday, has come up with an initiative to help needy families during the ongoing nation-wide lockdown. In its first phase of the noble cause, the Guwahati Foodie team has provided necessary daily ration including rice, dal, mustard oil, soap, salt and milk to 196 families in and around Azara revenue circle.
Earlier, Guwahati Foodie ran a donation campaign to raise funds for the initiative through its Facebook page and group. They also reached out to Purabi Dairy for necessary milk packets to be distributed.
Speaking about the campaign, Sisir Kumar, an admin of Guwahati Foodie said, “We would like to thank all the members who have contributed for the cause. It was because of their full-hearted support we could successfully completed the first phase of the campaign.” He also thanked the district administration for providing necessary permissions and Circle Office, Azara revenue circle for providing the list and guiding them to reach out to the families in need.
Guwahati Foodie team is also planning to reach out to families in other areas in the coming week with such relief packets.
“I would like to appreciate thank the members of Purabi Dairy who have opened their hearts and provided us with necessary amount of milk packets. I am hopeful that other corporate houses and organisations will also come forward and help people.” added Sisir.
