GUWAHATI: In what may be described as a proud moment for Assam, a young woman from the state has passed an Indian air force national level examination with flying colours. Daughter of Alindra Chaudhury and Beli Chaudhury, the woman Akansha Chaudhury has joined as a lieutenant in the fighter aircraft squadron after clearing the air force test. Akansha is a resident of Juripar, Six Mile in Guwahati.

According to reports, the Indian air force national level examination was held in April this year. Altogether, 1200 young women have excelled at the national level and bagged special positions. Akansha, who has become an inspiration for many, is the only woman from the Northeast region to have cleared the examination.

Good wishes have been pouring in from various circles ever since the news of the Assamese girl clearing the national level air force test broke out. Many have termed the achievement a "great honour" for the state.

Patharkuchi BJP legislator and minister Ranjeet Kumar Dass along with members of various organisations and clubs including Pathsala Town Club, Pathsala Rangali Bihu Sammelan and Bajali District Press Guild among others have congratulated Akansha for her grand achievement and wished her success in the future.

Earlier this month, another woman from Assam brought laurels for the state by getting selected as a flying officer in Indian air force. The woman Mareya Begum, who belongs from Barak Valley's Cachar district, cleared the air force common admission test following which she was called for an interview in which she impressed one and all with her performance. She was later selected as a flying officer in Indian air force.
