GUWAHATI: A gruesome murder on Vijaya Dashami has sent shockwaves across the city. An e-rickshaw driver was stabbed to death in broad daylight on Tuesday near the LP School, Hengrabari.
According to police sources, a youth named Tileswar Bezbaruah had a quarrel with e-rickshaw driver Khagen Kalita (36). During the quarrel, Tileswar took out a knife and stabbed Khagen Kalita multiple times. Kalita died on the spot. He was a resident of South Sarania. Onlookers watched in shock and horror as Kalita’s lifeless body lay in a pool of blood. The gruesome incident was captured on a nearby CCTV camera. Dispur Police arrested Tileswar Bezbaruah.
On the other hand, another body was recovered on Tuesday from Bathoupuri, Gorchuk. The deceased has been identified as Suna Ullah (56). According to sources, Ullah, a resident of Dhirenpara, had not gone home for the last two days. On Tuesday morning, his body was found inside a transformer barricade. Local people informed the police. ISBT police outpost recovered the body. It is suspected that due to excessive drinking, he may have accidentally come in contact with the transformer and died.
