Guwahati: JAFA confers Achievers Award 2023-24

The Journalists Association for Assam conferred the JAFA Achievers Award for 2023–24 to the winners in various categories on Saturday.

GUWAHATI: The Journalists Association for Assam conferred the JAFA Achievers Award for 2023–24 to the winners in various categories on Saturday. Agriculture Minister Atul Bora, Member of Parliament of Lok Sabha Naba Kumar Saraniya, Axam Xahitya Xabha (AXX) president Surjya Kanta Hazarika, senior journalist Pranoy Bordoloi, Sanjib Kumar Phukan, Naren Hazarika, JAFA president Abhideep Choudhury, secretary Kunja Mohan Rai, APCU working president and senior reporter of The Sentinel Mousamjyoti Baishya, joint director of DIPR Rajib Saikia, RSS leader Sankar Das, and various other dignitaries were present as guests in the award function ceremony held at PWD Convention and Training Centre, Dispur, Guwahati.

The category-wise awardees are: journalism: Param Prakash Gogoi (Axomiya Pratidin), Diganta Deka (Dainik Janambhumi), Sanjib Kalita (Dainik Purvoday), Rana Deka (NKTV), and Mamata Mishra (Assam Tribune).

Photo Journalism: Abdul Sajid (UB Photos): News Anchor: Manjushree Kalita (Newslive): Video Journalism: Kumar Nripendra Rajbongshi (News18 Assam Northeast) Sports Journalism: Subodh Mallah Baruah (Dainik Asom). Best school of journalism: Institute of Mass Communication and Media Studies, Guwahati. Excellence in police service: IGP Nitul Gogoi; dynamic youth leadership: Gitartha Goswami, member secretary of SLAC (State Level Advisory Committee for Students and Youth Welfare, Assam). Excellence in medical service: Health City Hospital, Guwahati. Inspiring educationist: Dr. Ranjit Deka of Pathsala. Inspiring personality: Akan Saikia of Biswanath Chariali. Popular singer: Papori Gogoi, Social service: Mohajon Kro. Social influencer: Youtuber Samay Gogoi. For entrepreneurship: Nipul Kalita and for Youth activists: Bidyut Bikash Baishya.

In the programme, JAFA also awarded 21 rural journalists for their contribution and commitment towards their work in the field of rural journalism. Some of them who are awarded are Niren Chandra Mali (Palasbari), Hirakjyoti Medhi (Basugaon), Barasha Kashyap (Nalbari), Run Rongpi (Diphu), and Haren Bora (Lakhimpur).
