GUWAHATI: A major water supply line started leaking heavily at around 11:50 a.m. on Saturday. Although no one was injured in the incident, the leakage caused problems for commuters in the locality.

The Guwahati Jal Board (GJB) has announced that the water supply to the entire Geetanagar zone has been shut down since 12 p.m. on Saturday. No time frame has, however, been mentioned regarding the restarting of the supply.

This action was taken after the incident of water leakage at Zoo Road, Tiniali. The Jal Board had mentioned that the closure was due to urgent repair work. Meanwhile, the public has raised questions regarding what action was taken towards the maintenance of the pipes, especially after the Kharghuli incident.
