Guwahati Marathon schedule to start in Feb next

Guwahati is all set to host its very own signature marathon in February next year. The Guwahati Marathon 2024 was announced on Saturday at the India Club, Ambari, in the presence of Pallav Gopal Jha, IAS, District Commissioner, Kamrup (M).

GUWAHATI: Guwahati is all set to host its very own signature marathon in February next year. The Guwahati Marathon 2024 was announced on Saturday at the India Club, Ambari, in the presence of Pallav Gopal Jha, IAS, District Commissioner, Kamrup (M). The launch saw the release of the logo of the Guwahati Marathon by Pallav Gopal Jha, along with the official website, essentially marking the launch of the registration process.

The event was attended by renowned fitness expert Nishant Bordoloi and celebrated MMA fighter Bhabajeet Choudhury of Assam, amongst a host of other dignitaries. The founding team of the marathon, Parnai Das, Ashish Rajkhowa, and Aditi Chaudhuri, addressed the media after the launch. The “Guwahati Marathon will be a unique platform to encourage people of all ages and fitness levels to embrace physical activity and lead healthier lives. As the event is open to amateur and seasoned runners alike, it fosters inclusivity and inspires individuals to set and achieve personal fitness goals,” said Parnai on behalf of Paper Mache Pvt. Ltd., the parent company behind the marathon.

The event is tentatively scheduled for February 18, 2024, and the exact routes will be announced in due course. The marathon is expected to attract participants, supporters, and spectators from different parts of India and abroad, which will boost tourism and the local economy.,stated a press release.

“The key objective of organizing a marathon in Guwahati is to cultivate a profound sense of city ownership among its residents and address the absence of an annual participatory sports event in the region,” Ashish further added. The culmination of the launch saw Aditi Chaudhuri, another co-founder of the event, lay the vote of thanks. “It gives me immense pleasure to witness the start of a plan that we have had for more than six months now. I would like to thank our guest of honour for gracing the occasion and showing his belief in our vision. We now look forward to turning this dream into a reality and making the Guwahati Marathon our pride and joy.”
