GUWAHATI: According to reports that surfaced on Tuesday, a significant fire that started in Maligaon in Guwahati destroyed up to five commercial buildings. Five stores were reportedly destroyed in the fire that started Friday night at Goshala Bazar in Maligaon.

Soon after, a group of firefighters and local police officers arrived on the scene. They struggled for a while, but eventually managed to put out the blazing flames.

As per sources, it took about two hours to put out the fire. The cause of the fire has not yet been determined in the interim. The incident happened last night about one in the morning.

It should be remembered that early on June 25 a major fire erupted at a market in the Mangaldoi region of Assam, destroying items valued in the millions of rupees.

A large fire started in one of the market's stores and quickly spread to the nearby hardware and grocery stores, among other stores. The fire burned down numerous properties, turning them into ashes.

Recently, on Friday, a sizable fire broke out inside a railway facility in Lumding, Assam's Hojai district. Sources claim that the Jio Tower transformer is where the fire started.

According to sources, the fire destroyed commodities valued at roughly 40 lakh and various valuables, including the tower's diesel machinery. When the fire department arrived, they put out the flames.

In a related incident, a transformer installed at the Dibrugarh Cancer Care Centre in Assam caught fire severely on June 7.

According to another report, at 4 am, the incident took place. The fire reportedly started at a transformer that was erected on the hospital's property.

A short circuit was thought to be the cause of the fire. Soon later, firefighters arrived at the scene and extinguished the fire.
