GUWAHATI: Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) cleared a clogged drain along Dakhingaon Saukuchi Road and removed wastes causing artificial floods in the area.
Meanwhile, due to incessant rains water accumulated at Seven Mile - Garigaon road in front of Jalukbari Girls Higher Secondary School. GMC officials dug a new drain to ensure free flow of water and avoid water-logging in the area.
Today GMC removed wastes from a dumping site at Milanpur in the Chandmari area in the city.
It also removed wastes and mud from drains in the area to bring respite to the locals from water-logging.
"Despite our continuous efforts to clear drains, several areas are still facing water-logging issues due to clogged drains. Our safai workers, under the supervision of GMC officials again cleared the drains today near Dispur Hospital, Guwahati College MRD road, Jotiya Mondakini Path, Patharkuwari Hengrabari link road, Birkuchi, Jyoti path point (near Ashram) & Geeta Nagar," a press release issued by the civic body said.
The civic body also cleared accumulated wastes from drains at Battalion Gate Lutuma, Suruj Nagar, Lokhra and Pragati Path of Division 5.
