GUWAHATI: APCC (Assam Pradesh Congress Committee) president Bhupen Kumar Borah said that the notice issued to him by the GMC (Guwahati Municipal Corporation) on October 12, 2022, 'is accentuated by malice'.

The GMC issued the notice to Bhupen Kumar Borah yesterday asking him to provide copies of the No Objection Certificate (NOC) and approved plan of his house at Niribili Path at Ghoramara Chariali in Guwahati within three days.

Responding to the notice today, Borah said, "It is appalling that an authority like Guwahati Municipal Corporation without homework issued such a letter. Although I stay in the said house with my family, I am not the owner of the land or the building. My wife owns the same. Authorities in the Guwahati Municipal Corporation in their jest to issue the show-cause notice, probably at the behest of political masters, did not even consider it appropriate to verify their records. In normal circumstances, when such a complaint is lodged, it is incumbent upon the Guwahati Municipal Corporation to verify its records. But in the present case, the authority did not do so. It creates doubt that the notice 'is accentuated by malice'. Be that as it may, I request you now at least to verify the record and seek the relevant documents from the owner of the land and building i.e. my wife, by sending proper notice in her name as per law."
