GUWAHATI: The Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) is working hard towards ensuring that the city is free of floods and other problems. But it is often seen that people throw their garbage directly into the open drains of the city. Some of the items found while cleaning the drains include clothes, blankets, and bottles, which jam the sewers and passages and cause the water to spill over onto the streets. In order to prevent such incidents and urban flooding situations, the local civic body has asked the citizens not to dump their garbage into the sewers. They also asked people to dispose of their trash at the designated points so that it could be collected by the individuals or organizations that had that particular duty.
