Guwahati Municipal Corporation Tie Up With Vodafone Idea's As Smart City Partner

The geotagged and geo-fenced Vi Mobility SIM cards will also enable the corporation to monitor the field staffs operation through real-time dashboards round-the-clock.

NEW DELHI: Under the 'Guwahati Smart City' initiative, the Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) said it has picked Vi Business, the enterprise arm of Vodafone Idea as its smart city partner.

Under this partnership, GMC will provide Vi's Intelligent Mobility solutions to Guwahati Municipal Swacch Bharat workers.

The geotagged and geo-fenced Vi Mobility SIM castaff'srds will also enable the corporation to monitor the field staff's operation through real-time dashboards round-the-clock.

The Vi SIMs that can be used with feature phones, as well as smartphones, will ensure GMC employees stay connected to Vi's network. This will, in turn, help GMC ensure the safety of field staff and improve the efficiency of day-to-day operations, said an official statement.

The partnership was officially launched in Guwahati by the Chief Minister of Assam, Himanta Biswa Sarma, on Monday in the presence of government officials and Vodafone Idea officials.

The partnership is a part of System Integration efforts being undertaken by the pan-city project division of the Guwahati Smart City plan, the statement added.

"Our association with the Guwahati Municipal Corporation's Smart City programme, is an example of the intelligent technology we bring to the table under Vi's Enterprise Mobility offerings… We are delighted to be chosen as a partner to GMC's Smart City programme project," said Abhijit Kishore, Chief Enterprise Business Officer, Vodafone Idea Limited.
