Guwahati: NCB Seizes Cannabis Worth ₹ 5 Crores, 3 Held

The NCB conducted this operation in the Jorabat area near Guwahati and they have confiscated cannabis weighing 3,836.5 kilograms.

Guwahati: The Narcotics Control Bureau conducted an operation in Guwahati on 11 January where a humongous amount of cannabis or ganja was seized along with the arrest of three people.

The NCB conducted this operation in the Jorabat area near Guwahati and they have confiscated cannabis weighing 3,836.5 kilograms which is worth around a whopping Rs. 5 crores.

The Cannabis was recovered from two trucks that were reportedly travelling to Bihar from Tripura.

The NCB carried out the raid based on its own information and any information regarding a tip-off has not been discovered till now.

NL 01 AB 3995 and AS 01 GC 9626 are the number plates of the two trucks.

Three smugglers also got arrested in connection with this case and they have been identified as Hafizul Montul, Abdul Khaleque, and Asamuddin Baniya.

The NCB took to their official Twitter handle to inform about this big bust and mentioned that it is the largest ever seizure of cannabis.

This seizure comes in the backdrop of the war on drugs in the state of Assam. The state has been embroiled in a drug problem with many youths falling prey to excessive drug addiction and some even losing their lives due to drug overdose.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has vowed to eradicate the drug menace in the state. There have been several crackdowns in the past few months with drugs worth crores been seized in a drive to clean the state.
