Guwahati: Normal Life Disrupted Due To Waterlogging As Heavy Rain Lashes City

According to reports, residents in Hatigaon, Chandmari, and Zoo Road, including other areas of the city are facing trouble in conducting their regular business.

Guwahati: In a major relief, Guwahatians got relief on Friday morning after heavy showers cooled the region but simultaneously it also caused waterlogging and traffic jams in several parts of the city on Friday.

Due to the incessant rain, waters entering several residential areas and houses as well as roads in the city in some parts witnessed water accumulation.

According to reports, residents in Hatigaon, Chandmari, and Zoo Road, including other areas of the city are facing trouble in conducting their regular business.

Meanwhile, commuters too facing a tough time as they are finding it difficult to reach their destination due to traffic jams due to rain.

However, the havoc caused by rain is likely to continue as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Wednesday had predicted heavy rainfalls over Assam, Meghalaya, and Arunachal Pradesh from 11 to 15 May 2022.

The weather forecasting agency further predicted heavy rainfalls over Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura on the 11th, 13th, and 14th.

''Isolated heavy to very heavy falls very likely over Assam-Meghalaya during 11th to 15th May 2022. Isolated heavy falls very likely over Arunachal Pradesh on 12th & 15th and isolated heavy to very heavy falls on 13th & 14th May 2022,'' IMD tweeted on Wednesday.

''Isolated heavy falls very likely over Nagaland-Manipur-Mizoram-Tripura on 11th, 13th & 14th and isolated heavy to very heavy falls on 12th May 2022,'' it said in another tweet.

For the past few days, people in the region are facing scorching heat accompanied by humidity which has brought masses to a standstill.
