Guwahati: The Guwahati Police nabbed a person and detained two other over the charges of alleged physical and psychological assault of a minor girl for five years.
The accused identified as Beauty Singh, her son Sunny Singh and Her brother Jasbir Singh. Reportedly, they all were harassing their minor house help since 2017.
The victim, who hails from Tinsukia, was forced to child labour by her own mother.
As per the reports, while working at Beauty Singh's residence in Beltola, she was harassed by her master, her brother Jasbir Singh, as well as her son Sunny Singh.
The trio made the child to overwork without paying her and whatever the amount she was given that too was transferred to her mother.
The reports also claimed that in 2021, when Beauty Singh went to Tinsukia, the girl was sent to Jasbir Singh's residence, where Jasbir allegedly gave her a spiked drink and later raped the minor.
Later, in a bid to hide his misdeeds, Jasbir offered her Rs 200 to keep which the girl refused to take it.
On March 2, the girl managed to escape and went to stay with an acquaintance, who then approached the Assam Director General of Police (DGP).
Over the directions of DGP, an FIR has been registered at Basistha police station under the sections of IPC, juvenile Justice (Care and protection of Children Act) of 2015, the Chil Labor Prohibition Act and the POSCO Act.
The police have successfully arrested Jasbir Singh, while the two accused Beauty Singh and Sunny Singh are being interrogated.
