Guwahati: People Residing On Govt Land In Hills And Other Areas To Get Ownership Rights

GUWAHATI: In a recent announcement by the state government, Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma informed that land rights will be given to those people residing in the government lands in the hills of Guwahati.

Lands ownership rights will also be given to people living in PGR (professional grazing reserve) land, VGR (village grazing reserve land) or Debuttar government lands in the city.

On Monday 11 April the state chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced the major decision while releasing the BJP Sankalp Patra for the GMC (Guwahati Municipal Corporation) elections.

CM Sarma informed that this initiative has been undertaken under the scheme of the Assam government- Mission Basundhara-2.

The chief minister added that the government is committed to giving land rights to those residents living in the Guwahati hills, government grazing reserve lands and Debuttar government lands.

Sarma further added that a large section of people has benefitted under the initial phase of the Mission Basundhara scheme and through its 2nd phase it is expected that lots of people in Guwahati will get land rights.

He stated that the state government aims to provide land ownership and land management to the people residing in Guwahati on a mission mode.

As per the details provided by the CM, Land Integration and Land Mutation will start from 10 May 2022 and therefore if someone buys land in Guwahati, the particular land will be registered in Sub-registrar.

The naamzari (name deed) will be later added after the completion of land registration and it will not be required to visit the Revenue office to get the registration done said, CM Sarma.

Both land registration and namzaari process will be equally completed by using single software as informed by the chief minister.

He also added that after the implementation of this initiative in the Guwahati metropolis, the Revenue Administration will stand equal with all other cities across India.
