GUWAHATI: The Guwahati Police Commissionerate has seized a total of 6,915 vehicles during the lockdown period from March 24 to April 20.
According to reports, out of the total seized vehicles, 6,312 are two-wheelers, 44 three wheelers and 559 four wheelers.
A total of 2,762 fine cases were detected out of which Rs. 41,32,100 was realized. Non FIR cases sent to court are 2,967.
On April 10, the maximum number of vehicles were seized – 887, followed by April 13 with – 638 vehicles.
The reports said Central Police district covering Paltan Bazar, Latasil, Panbazar, Chandmari, Noonmati, Geetanagar, Satgaon police stations seized 2,404 vehicles during the lockdown period. While Paltan Bazar police station seized 523 vehicles, Latasil police station seized 287 vehicles, 435 vehicles by Panbazar police station, 273 by Chandmari police station, 391 cases by Noonmati police station, 279 cases by Geetanagar police station and 216 cases by Satgaon police station.
Central Police district is followed by West Police district seizing 2,361 vehicles during the period. The break-up being – 470 vehicles by Jalukbari police station, 396 vehicles by Jalukbari outpost, 404 vehicles by Gorchuk police station, 416 vehicles by Fatasil Ambari police station, 142 vehicles by Azara police station and 533 by Bharalumukh police station.
East Police District seized a total of 2150 vehicles. The break-up is – 179 vehicles cases by Bhangagarh police station, 704 by Dispur police station, 412 by Basistha police station, 192 by Khanapara outpost, 232 by Jorabat outpost, 344 by Hatigaon police station, 87 by Sonapur police station.
