Guwahati: Police on hunt for West Bengal-based snatchers

The Fatashil Ambari Police is on a hunt for the West Bengal-based miscreants who have recently snatched a bag containing Rs 5 lakh from a victim. The incident was reported in the Manpara area.

GUWAHATI: The Fatashil Ambari Police is on a hunt for the West Bengal-based miscreants who have recently snatched a bag containing Rs 5 lakh from a victim. The incident was reported in the Manpara area. The miscreants are identified as Bijendra Gowala, Monu Ray, Biren, and Tiklu, all hailing from West Bengal.

According to sources, the victim is identified as Narendra Kr. Bansali. He withdrew cash from the HDFC Bank Fancy Bazar branch. According to sources, out of the four, two of the miscreants were loitering inside the bank, checking out people who were withdrawing money, and once they got their target, one of them informed the other who did the actual snatching.

Accordingly, a team led by OC Fatasil Ambari raided the houses of the miscreants, as per sources. At first, they thought the miscreants had run away after looting such a hefty amount, but the amount was recovered from the house of the accused, Bijendra Gowala.

Efforts are being made to arrest the culprits, and the recovered amount will be handed over to the victim with due procedure.
