Guwahati Police rescued two businessmen from kidnappers

The Guwahati Police has rescued two businessmen who were abducted from the Garbhang Reserve Forest on June 30.

GUWAHATI: The Guwahati Police has rescued two businessmen who were abducted from the Garbhang Reserve Forest on June 30.

The victims — Kushal Kalita and Jayanta Kachari were rescued from the Assam-Meghalaya border near Rani on Saturday. One of the kidnappers namely Bhadrewar Timung has been apprehended by a team led by DCP (Deputy Commissioner of Police) West.

According to police, the kidnappers blindfolded and tied the hands of both the victims and took them to a location through the forest.

According to an FIR lodged at the Gorchuk Police Station, the missing persons went to the forest for plantation work on a motorcycle (AS01AG4194). Jayanta Kachari's brother stated that the two were contactable till 2:20 pm. However, their mobile phones went out of reach and were switched off after reaching Barpani.
