Guwahati: Pragjyotish Housing Complex in Ghoramara declared as containment zone

The area has been tagged as a containment zone after a resident who came back from Mumbai tested positive

Guwahati: Pragjyotish Housing Complex in Guwahati's Ghoramara area has been declared as a containment zone by the district administration of Kamrup (M) district on Friday. With the declaration of this latest containment zone, the number of such areas in the district has risen to 36.

When the patient, a girl who had come back on a flight and was kept in home quarantine with her father and elder sister tested positive, the authorities were quick to tag the area as a containment zone and seal it.

Amid a rapid surge in the number of Covid-19 positive cases in Guwahati city, four more areas in Birubari, Barsapara, Athgaon Pukhuri Par, and Kushal Nagar in Bamunimoidam have been declared as containment zone by the district administration of Kamrup (Metro) on June 11. After the detection of Covid-19 positive cases, the Kamrup (Metro) Deputy Commissioner Biswajit Pegu directed the circle officer of Guwahati revenue circle, to seal the four areas with immediate effect.
