Guwahati: Prime Accused in Garigaon Gangrape Case Killed in Police Firing

GUWAHATI: The prime accused in the Guwahati gang rape case has been killed in an incident of firing by the Assam police on late Tuesday night.

As per reports, the accused Biki Ali was shot by the personnel of Assam police when he allegedly tried to flee from custody.

Biki Ali was shot when he tried to flee from custody when he was taken to the crime scene late on Tuesday night for the reconstruction of the crime, said police.

Meanwhile, Biki Ali was immediately shifted to the Gauhati Medical College Hospital (GMCH), the doctors declared him brought dead.

Earlier, on Tuesday, Assam police have arrested Biki Ali, one of the five accused in the Garigaon gang rape case. He was nabbed from Dampur hills of Kamrup district where he was hiding to avoid arrest.

The case has been registered under Sections 376 (D) of the IPC, Section 6 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012, and 67(B) of the IT Act against the five accused.

Following the incident, all the five accused were on the run. A search operation was on and police sources claimed that they have got valuable leads in the case already.
