Guwahati Refinery organizes SAKSHAM-2022

GUWAHATI: Sanrakshan Kshamata Mahotsav or SAKSHAM-2022 was inaugurated at Guwahati Refinery on Monday through a befitting programme organized at the Learning &Development Centre, stated a press release.

To mark the occasion, the employees were administered the Oil Conservation pledge in English, Hindi and Assamese for further reaffirming their commitment for the cause. It may be mentioned that SAKSHAM is observed every year, as per the directives of Petroleum Conservation Research Association (PCRA), to motivate consumers to switch to cleaner fuels and bring in behavioural change to use fossil fuel intelligently. This year, the theme is Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav through Green & Clean Energy.

SP Singh, Executive Director & Refinery Head, while addressing the gathering, laid stress on how the entire globe needs to monitor the current energy scenario and should work out some alternatives to address the issue. He further urged all to look at the various ways by which each of us can contribute towards ensuring energy saving in varied forms and at various levels. Singh also urged all to put individual efforts in conserving energy as well as for active participation during the observance so as to make it a success.

In the programme, a video message received from Rameshwar Teli, MoS in the Union Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas, was played whereas the messages received from the Chairman, Indian Oil, SM Vaidya and Director (Refineries) Sukla Mistry were also read out. The programme also witnessed an on-the-spot quiz competition organized for the audience.

Earlier, the welcome address was delivered by Mamoni Basumatary, General Manager (Technical Services & Health Safety & Environment).

During SAKSHAM 2022, a number of programmes like art competition for school students, suggestion drive, best energy efficient unit award, quiz competition, vehicle emission test, awareness programmes for contractual workers and CISF personnel etc. have been planned to spread the message of energy conservation amongst Guwahati Refinery family members and the neighbouring communities.
