GUWAHATI, Jan 15: Roads and markets in Guwahati wore a deserted look with most of the buses remaining of the roads. The markets looked empty as most of the vendors have left for their native villages to celebrate Bhogali Bihu. The Bihu holiday was declared in most of the Government and private offices, educational institutions and banks.

No vehicular traffic was witnessed on busy roads like GS Road, VIP Road, and AT Road during the period. Some of the shops which were opened during Bihu were working with skeleton services. The entire Guwahati city was wearing a deserted look as a large floating population made their journey homeward to other districts to celebrate the festival.
