Guwahati: TET Teachers Stage Protest at Kahilipara, Detained

Meanwhile, many teachers who were on their way to Guwahati to stage protests have been detained by police in different places in order to disrupt the protest.

GUWAHATI: Thousand of TET teachers' have staged protest in front of Sarba Siksha Abhijan office at Kahilipara, Guwahati.

Notably, teachers from across the state gathered at Guwahati to gherao the Sarba Siksha Abhijan office in protest against various demands including the regularization of jobs.

Meanwhile, many teachers who were on their way to Guwahati to stage protests have been detained by police in different places in order to disrupt the protest.

The TET teachers have called the protest after their discussion with the government turned out to be sour.

Moreover, many teachers who came to Guwahati from other parts of the state by train have been detained by police at Guwahati Railway station and vehicles of teachers have also been seized.

The All Assam Students' Union (AASU) and four other organizations have extended their support to the All Assam Primary TET Qualified Teachers' Association's programme to gherao the Sarba Siksha Abiyan (SSA) directorate in Kahilipara to press for redressal of its various demands.

The other organizations include the Assam State Primary Teachers' Association, the All Assam MV School Teachers' Association, the All Assam Gorkha Students' Union (AAGSU) and the Assam Tea Tribe Students' Association (ATTSA).

According to All Assam Primary TET Qualified Teachers' Association sources, all the five other organizations have given written assurances of their support to the gherao programme and will be sent their representatives to the protest site.
