Guwahati: "Equality before law", Guwahati Traffic Police declared on Twitter, after sharing a picture which shows a police vehicle had been clamped for violating parking rule violations.

The picture shows a police jeep being clamped in the Bamunimaidam area in Guwahati city. The vehicle was reportedly booted by the traffic police personnel of the city for parking in a "no parking" zone.

Making a strong statement, Guwahati Traffic Police captioned the image on Twitter as "Equality before law!"

This striking picture has evoked strong reactions on social media, with the locals hailing the police for their apparent impartiality.

"Gud job. Guwahati police won hearts since last few months. In every department, there will be people who makes mistakes but that doesn't mean we will criticize entire department. Guwahati Police is becoming better and better day by day," wrote a Twitterati, while another said, "Wow !!!! This is unbelievable. And infact an apt example to all. We are proud of you."

However, there were some who used this opportunity to condemn the allegedly corrupt practices within the police department.

"We respect your honesty but some of your police man is far from the word honesty," criticized one user.

"No money to fill fuel. How will they pay the money for the Challan?," queried another.

The cops often find themselves the subject of criticism due to alleged corruption and scams, but positive messages such as these seem to be a step in the right direction.
