Guwahati: Water Pipe Bursts in Rajgarh Cause Massive Water Surge

GUWAHATI: Panic gripped Guwahati’s Rajgarh road after a water pipeline burst on Monday afternoon. The incident has been reported close to RG Baruah Road near Gauhati Commerce College. According to images that have gone around, the water is seen spilling to a high level.

According to reports, the Guwahati Jal Board's water pipeline ruptured at Rajgarh Road near Commerce College Link Road, causing chaos among residents. There were no known casualties or injuries as a result of the incident. However, a number of expensive properties have been harmed.

Taking on twitter, Ashok Singhal, the minister for housing, urban affairs, and irrigation in Assam informed that “Hastily arrived at the scene to assess the situation at the Rajgarh and Gauhati Commerce College connection road where a drinking water pipe explosion caused minor adjacent damage.

All senior Guwahati Jal Board officials would meet urgently later today, per the call. Following the earlier event in Kharguli, a high-level investigation is already underway. We'll make sure a similar occurrence never happens again.”

In the Kharguli, Guwahati, a water supply main line pipe ruptured last month. The water burst resulted in a huge water gush that damaged at least 40 homes and washed away several vehicles. According to reports, the incident affected approximately 600 people, and about 30 people were hurt.

Sumitra Rabha was died in the tragedy. She lived in one of the homes that the water surged and ruined. The injured were taken care of in the meantime by being taken to the local hospitals.

Ashok Singhal, the minister for housing, urban affairs, and irrigation in Assam, has commanded a thorough investigation into the water supply pipe rupture in Guwahati's Kharguli neighbourhood.

Speaking to media, Singhal said, “The pressure is kept very low when hydro testing is carried out after the pipes have been welded. We have never heard of a case when water suddenly erupted after hydro testing had been completed successfully. However, the incident that occurred today is extremely regrettable. There will be a thorough investigation into this. For every pipe installed, a safety audit is done. There will be an investigation into the whole thing.”

On the other hand , in May 29, after a significant water pipeline ruptured beneath the being built Maligaon flyover in Guwahati, Assam, May 29, traffic came to a complete stop.

The event was discovered as the state government's concern authority was constructing the flyover.
