Guwahati: Woman Strangled To Death In Hatigaon

The police have suspected that her in-laws could be behind this murder and they cited that dowry could be the reason.

Guwahati: A women has been strangled to death in the Hatigaon area of Guwahati.

The police have suspected that her in-laws could be behind this murder and they have cited that dowry could be the reason.

The women was reportedly troubled by her in-laws for dowry for a long time.

All the family members of the in-laws have been arrested by the Hatigaon police in connection with this case.

The deceased women has been identified as one Dilowar Begum.

The Hatigaon area in Guwahati had witnessed at least two similar incidents in the past two months.

A murder was reported in the Hatigaon area last month where a man had been found hanging from the ceiling fan at his residence in Guwahati on the morning of 12 December.

Police immediately rushed to the site of the incident and sent the dead body for post-mortem report.

The man had been identified as one Rupjyoti Deka, a 24 year old youth who hails from Batadrava in Nagaon district.

The deceased reportedly worked as a driver for one Guljar Hussain who happens to be a member of the minority cell of the Assam BJP.

Prior to this incident, a 55 year old painter was found dead under mysterious circumstances in 22 November. 

The body was found inside a locked room in House no. 24 of Laxmi Nagar in Hatigaon. 

It is interesting to note that the deceased was missing for the last five days and had not been seen since 18 November 2021. 

The body also had severe cut injuries in the stomach area and the police conducted a thorough investigation into the case.

The man has been identified as Milan Chetry who worked as a housekeeper and caretaker in the house of Md. Ataur Rahman in Hatigaon.
