Guwahati: Youth Feared Dead After Drowning In Brahmaputra River While Making Video

GUWAHATI: In an unfortunate incident, a youth was feared to have drowned in the Brahmaputra river after he fell down the river accidentally.

As per locals, the youth was shooting a video on his mobile phone when he slipped and fell into the river in the city's Pandu area.

"At around 3.10 pm today, the Jalukbari OC informed that youth at Pandu Ghat fell into the Brahmaputra and was washed away. We immediately rushed to the spot. We identified the victim as Bishal Ghosh, son of late Munna Ghosh, a resident of Boripara," an official said.

The youth was identified as Bishal Ghosh, a resident of Boripara in the Pandu locality of the city.

Though police rushed to the spot and started a rescue operation, the youth was yet to be rescued.

Notably, in another incident, the Independence Day celebrations turned sour for two people as they were killed on the spot following a major road mishap at Jakhalabandha today.

Reportedly, the incident took place at Rangaloo near Jakhalabandha when a speeding four-wheeler rammed into a stationary tanker.

The vehicle, a Swift Dzire, was travelling from Kaziranga towards Sipajhar with a total of seven passengers including the driver onboard.

The impact of the accident was so strong that the vehicle went under the tanker. However, the exact reason for the accident is yet to be ascertained.

Upon receiving the information of the same, a police team reached the spot and initiated a probe.
