GUWAHATI: BJP's national president JP Nadda has urged all newly-appointed leaders and workers of the State BJP to take all schemes of the government to the people and make them aware of the benefits.

Presiding over the meeting of the newly-formed executive committee of the State BJP through video-conference from New Delhi, Nadda said, "Work hard for the welfare of people, and gain more seats in the Assembly. Our main motto is making people aware of various schemes taken up by the government for people's welfare."

Thanking Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and other leaders of the State BJP, Nadda said, "It's laudable that the leaders of the party have been working relentlessly during the corona pandemic and the devastating floods in the State. 2020 is a year for real test for us in all States in the country. When the Prime Minister announced the first lockdown the country was not ready to face it. However, Modiji did show the way to the people of the nation how to defeat the virus.

"It was a challenge for us as we had neither hospital beds for COVID-19 patients, nor did we have COVID-19 kits. But now we've 1,400 dedicated hospitals in the country to fight COVID-19. Initially we had 1,500 testing facilities in the country. But now we carry out six lakh tests per day. We didn't have a single PPE kit, but now we can make four lakh such kits daily. The recovery rate in India is 69 per cent and the mortality rate is less than 2 per cent."

Addressing State Education Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, Nadda said, "We need to go through the New Education Policy, 2020 to know as to how affordable, flexible and comfortable policy it is. We can then make others know it. The policy lays stress on mother tongue. If the policy is implemented properly, it can bring a paradigm shift in education in the country."

Nadda requested Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal to personally see as to how the MSME sector is beneficial for people and how it can be materialized. "In the last four years the State government led by the party did very well. We need to keep the tempo in the fifth year as well," he told the new appointed party workers and leaders.

The meeting also had a detailed discussion on 'Assam BJP Mission 100 for 2020-21 Assembly Election'. Present at the meeting were Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, Finance Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma, State BJP president Ranjeet Kumar Dass and others, besides each and every district committee president of the party who took part through video-conference.
