HELPING COVID PATIENTS: Call 9101852922 & get oximeters free of cost

The Pratishruti Cancer & Palliative Trust has started distributing pulse oximeters free-of-cost among the COVID-19 patients in the city.

GUWAHATI: The Pratishruti Cancer & Palliative Trust has started distributing pulse oximeters free-of-cost among the COVID-19 patients in the city.

Dr Gayatri Gogoi, Assistant Professor of Pathology Department at the Assam Medical College & Hospital, Dibrugarh —who heads Pratishruti Trust said that around 30% virus-infected persons in home isolation in Kamrup Metropolitan district don't have oximeters as they cannot afford to purchase the gadget. She said it is a matter of serious concern as oxygen saturation often pushes patients into a critical phase.

Since we have limited numbers of oximeters patients will have to return the gadget after they recover. We will sanitize the used oximeters and later give it to other patients," Dr Gogoi said.

The Assam Police Wives' Welfare Association on Tuesday donated 37 pulse oximeters to the Pratishruti Cancer & Palliative Trust to help those Covid-19 infected persons or families who cannot afford to purchase such valuable gadget.
