Heroin worth Rs 2 crore seized by Assam Police; 2 held

GUWAHATI/DIMORIA: A team of the East Guwahati Police District (EGPD) from the Jorabat Police Outpost under the Basistha Police Station seized 201.5 gm of heroin, valued at around Rs 2 crore, from a pick-up truck at 13th Mile near here on Friday. Two persons, identified as Aboy and Imran of the Thoubal district of Manipur, have been arrested in this connection.

According to police sources, the heroin was hidden inside 15 soap boxes and the two peddlers were travelling in the pick-up truck as passengers.

The truck was travelling from Manipur to Basistha here, the sources said, adding that further investigation is on.
