STAFF REPORTER GUWAHATI:
DCRG Fund for High School Retired Teachers: The Assam High School Retired Teachers' & Employees' Association (Newly Provincialised) Assam have urged the state government to release the Death-cum-Retirement Gratuity (DCRG).
Further in a letter forwarded to the State Education Minister Dr. Ranuj Pegu, the general sectary of the association Nipendra Nath Sarma wrote that the teachers' posts have been provincialized w.e.f 01/01/2013 and the joining was before 01/01/2004. However, some teachers have got retirement after serving only one or three or five years. Further, after retirement, the teachers and employees have not got any Financial Assistance (ie Retirement Gratuity, Regular Pension, etc.) from the Govt. of Assam.
"A few of us have not eligible to invest money to National Pension System (NPS). So, the teachers and employees after retirement face very critical financial conditions that cannot be explained. It is already known from Pension and Public Grievances P&PG (P) Department through O.M. No-PPG(P) 165/2014/36-A Dated Dispur the 1st February/2021 regulated DCRG for the employees under NPS. Orders were issued for payment of gratuity on a provisional basis in respect of employees' covered under NPS on their retirement from Govt. service," said Nipendra Nath Sarma.
Notably, on February 1, 2021, an order was passed in which it was decided that the government employees covered by the National Pension System shall be eligible for "Death-cum-Retirement Gratuity" on the same terms and conditions, as are applicable to employees covered by Assam Services (Pension) Rule 1969.
