Honour for Assam's Prof. Krishna Gopal Bhattacharyya; figures in 2% of top scientists as per Stanford University

Prof. Krishna Gopal Bhattacharyya held the 3rd position in India and 235th in the world in the field of environmental science.

Guwahati: Ex-professor of Gauhati University Prof. Krishna Gopal Bhattacharyya held the 3rd position in India and 235th in the world in the field of environmental science. Prof. Bhattacharyya is presently serving as a professor of Chemistry at Assam Don Bosco University in Guwahati.

He has been listed among the 2% of top scientists in the world by Stanford University's team of scientists, who meticulously analysed the works and contributions of over one lakh scientists in the world and ranked them subject-wise.

Prof Bhattacharyya obtained his M.Sc. in Chemistry from Gauhati College, Ph.D. and DIC from Imperial Faculty of Science, Expertise and medicines, London.

He joined the Department of Chemistry, Gauhati College in 1975 and retired as a Professor in April 2016.

He served as the head of Department of Chemistry and Dean, College of Science in Gauhati College.

Prof Bhattacharya additionally served the UGC-Educational Employees Faculty, Gauhati College as its director from 1997 to 2012.

Apart from this, Prof Bhattacharyya additionally served as the chairman of the State Environment Impact Assessment Authority (SEIAA), Assam.
