IIT Guwahati: Students were offered a package of Rs70 lakh in the campus placement

In comparison to Rs 52 lakh offered last year, the highest domestic package of Rs 70 lakh was offered this year in the campus placement of IIT Guwahati

Guwahati: The highest domestic package of Rs 70 lakhs was offered this year at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati's campus placement.

The placement sessions at IIT Guwahati began on Tuesday (December 1), 2020 in virtual mode due to the ongoing Covid 19 pandemic.

Phase one was held on December 1. And today was the second day of the recruitment session and  by the end of the day the total number of offers made by companies stood at 486.

Companies such as Google, Goldman Sachs, Microsoft, Texas Instruments, Qualcomm, Quadaye, Oracle, Adobe,  Bajaj, American Express, Walmart, Uber,  MTX, Accenture Japan, Flipkart, and many more participated in the campus placement drive so far.

The highest domestic package of Rs 70 lakh offered this year is a nearly 35 percent jump over the last year's Rs 52 lakh.

A total of 133 students from the institute have got Pre-Placement Offers (PPOs), which is equivalent to that of last year. The students also grabbed 4 international offers.

Speaking at the placement process, Prof. Abhishek Kumar the Head, Centre for Career Development mentioned that, IIT Guwahati is conducting the placement completely in an online mode and the institute is glad to mention that the highest package offered this year so far is already much higher than last year's highest package.

"The year 2020 has seen the placement process happening online and the number of recruiters joining the virtual placement has been very promising despite the pandemic. We are thankful to all the recruiters.IIT Guwahati students who are appearing for placements from across the country are very firm and have the potential to benefit from this online process as the equal opportunity is being provided to them as other institutes and we expect an upward trend in placement this year at IIT Guwahati," Prof. T. G. Sitharam, Director, IIT Guwahati said in the press release issued by the Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati.
