GUWAHATI: The Indian Railways largest labourer union "National Federation of Indian Railwayman" (NFIR) has appealed to all their recognized/affiliated unions to observe the foundation day of Indian National Trade Union Congress (INTUC) in a month long celebrations from May 3 to May 31. In response to this appeal, the largest union of North East Frontier Railways labour and employees trade union - N F Railway Employees Union (NFREU) has started the month long celebrations of the INTUC foundation day in a limited range in view of the current nationwide lockdown. According to the information provided by the union's Chairman Publicity Cell, NFREU Nayan Kumar Barman, Central General Secretary and NFIR Assistant General Secretary Munindra Saikia has directed its 5 Divisional committee and 55 Branch committee to celebrate the foundation day with various activities while maintaining social distancing. He also appealed to use these celebrations to create awareness and unite all the labourers and employees against the anti-people and anti-labour policies of the Central government. Saikia also strongly opposed the decision taken by the Central Government to freeze dearness allowance (DA) of Central Government Employees for a period from January 1, 2020to June 30, 2021. He appealed to the Central government to pay the due DA of the Railway Employees at the earliest.
