Indian National Trade Union Congress new committee to solve labour issues

GUWAHATI: The newly constituted committee of Indian National Trade Union Congress (INTUC) has taken its charge with an initiative solve the issues affecting the labourers of Assam.

The ad hoc committee with Hiranya Bora, an Ex MLA and president of the new committee, Kirip Chaliha, an Ex MP and vice president of INTUC along with Deep Bayan, president of State Youth INTUC, Munmi Dutta, president of Mahila INTUC and others addressed a press conference at the INTUC Assam Branch Head Office in Paltan Bazar. The committee stressed that it will take steps in the coming days to solve the issues faced by the labourers.

"The Corona pandemic has put the labourers from every wake of life in distress. The labourers, farmers, and daily wage earners are going through a lot of crisis. The government has taken many anti-labour policies. We need to take steps by covering all sections. For some inner issues we were unable to take steps. Now we are determined to solve the miseries of labor section," said committee president Hiranya Bora.

Kirip Chaliha vice president of INTUC, Assam Branch said the people from low income groups are going through a lot of problems due to the pandemic and they are supposed to suffer more in the coming years as there is a possibility that India may face economic slowdown. He added, "We are determined for a long fight and feel that there is a need to strengthen the labour section. We assure that we will follow actions to listen and solve their complaints." Deep Bayan, president of State Youth INTUC said that the Youth wing with the help of the parent committee is determined to take actions against the torture upon the labour section in all the 33 districts of Assam. Also present in the press conference Munmi Dutta the president of Mahila INTUC said the women wing will raise voice against the exploitation of women labors.
