GUWAHATI: While welcoming the State Government's decision to form a five-member committee head by the Chief Secretary to examine the report of the Justice (Retd) Biplab Kumar Sarma Commission regarding the controversial Assam Public Service Commission (APSC) Combined Competitive Examination (CCE) 2013, the organization named Fight Against Injustice of APSC has called for immediate suspension of 34 officials who have been reportedly indicted in the report as having secured their jobs through unfair means.

The organization's administrator Manas Pratim Baruah on Monday also lauded the Government's decision to entrust Justice (Retd) Biplab Kumar Sarma with the task of probing the APSC CEE of 2014 as well. It shows Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma desire to get to the root of the APSC jobs-for-cash scam, Baruah said.

He said that over a considerable period of time the Fight Against Injustice of APSC has been highlighting the fact that similar irregularities took place in both the CEE 2013 and CEE 2014 and, hence, the latter examination should be probed as well. He said that they had filed a writ petition in the Gauhati High Court, seeking that the CEE 2014 should also be brought under the scope of the Justice Biplab Kumar Sarma Commission's probe. The matter is pending because the Government's response was awaited in this regard, he said. A person named Ramen Chandra Talukdar has also filed a PIL in this regard. Therefore, the Government's decision to have the CEE 2014 probed by the Commission has infused new hope among the candidates who were deprived due to corruption in the APSC, Baruah said.
