Inter-college debate competition organized at Dispur College in Guwahati

 GUWAHATI: In order to observe Vigilance Awareness Week, an inter-college debate competition was organized by Power Grid Corporation of India Limited in collaboration with Dispur College at the Dispur College Auditorium on Wednesday on the topic, In the Opinion of the House, 'The Government Laws are enough to Combat Corruption'.

The inaugural session, chaired by Dr. Navajyoti Borah, Principal, Dispur College, was accompanied by K.C. Barman and Arun Gogoi, respectively, Senior GM and Deputy GM, Power Grid Corporation of India Limited. He added that such events provide an excellent platform for students to develop critical thinking, public speaking, and analytical skills.

Dr. Sunita Agarwalla, Vice Principal, Dispur College, graced the competition as a speaker. The competition was judged by Bishaldeep Kakati, Advocate, Gauhati High Court, and Dr. Sikha Jyoti Deka, Assistant Professor, Dispur College.

Dhrubajit Gogoi, Assistant Professor-cum-Faculty In-Charge of Debate and Symposium Cell, Dispur College, along with the members of the Dispur College Students' Union, have successfully coordinated and hosted the event. Ankur Bora of Gauhati University, Avispa Kalita of Cotton University, and Deekshita Serin of Arya Vidyapeeth College bagged first, second, and third prizes, respectively. The prize for the best team was bagged by Rajdeep Mahanta and Kritika Deka of Cotton University, stated a press release.
