GUWAHATI: The inter-State boundary disputes are legacies of the previous Congress regimes. This has been stated by Assam BJP spokesperson Pabitra Margherita here on Thursday. He also pointed out, "As on date, status quo has been maintained on the Assam-Mizoram boundary.
Addressing the media, Margherita added, "The roots of the present inter-State boundary disputes with Assam and the neighbouring States can be traced to the previous regimes of the Congress government. Already thousands of bighas of Assam lands were encroached by many people of the neighbouring States. Many lives of Assamese people were lost in such incidents. Mention may be made of the Merapani incident."
He added, "Against this backdrop, the present government led by Himanta Biswa Sarma has endeavoured to resolve the boundary disputes in a peaceful manner. He has adopted the policy of settling such issues through dialogue and also by taking stock of the ground-level scenes.
