IRS officers donate Rs 2.28 lakh for Assam floods relief

GUWAHATI: A delegation of IRS officers comprising Joint Commissioner Rocktim Saikia and Assistant Commissioners of Income Tax Mrityunjay Bansal, Priyanka Sharma Bansal and Tapan Deka called on State Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal at his residence on Thursday and handed him a cheque of Rs. 2.28 lakh contributed from the salary of IRS officers posted in the north-eastern region towards relief of citizens and wildlife affected by the Assam floods.

The Chief Minister took time out to discuss the current financial situation of Assam and various other issues and developments in recent times. He looked forward to suggestions from the IRS fraternity to improve the financial condition brought about by the COVID pandemic. He congratulated Tapan Deka, IRS (who was part of the delegation) on his achievement of getting selected in CSE 2019, a press release said.
