GUWAHATI: In view of the increasing traffic congestion and parking problems in the IMC (Itanagar Municipal Corporation) jurisdiction vis-a-vis proposed parking lots, an IMC team led by Mayor Tame Phassang visited the Automated Multi-Level car Parking System at Guwahati.
During the visit, the Mayor and the team, including engineers, minutely observed the Automated Multi-Level Car Parking System that can accommodate hundreds of cars in a limited place.
"Besides garbage management, parking is another challenge for IMC. We know that in the coming days, the number of vehicles will double, so we have a plan to create parking lots in the IMC Jurisdiction," said the Mayor. He added, "Before taking any step we have decided to study, practically what would be the best system to manage parking in the capital region."
Phassang said, "As part of the official tour to Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC), today we visited the Automated Multi-Level Car Parking System. With the help of engineers we came to know that such a system will be helpful for places like Itanagar as it takes less area for installation and can accommodate hundreds of vehicles."
Earlier, the Mayor, along with the corporators and IMC officials, also called on Guwahati Mayor Mrigen Sarania at the Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) office and discussed various issues related to the corporation. Among others, Deputy Mayor-Biri Basang, Commissioner –IMC Likha Tejji, Director-ULB Liyi Bagra, corporators, engineers accompanied the Mayor-IMC.
