GUWAHATI: Opening the party office today, national BJP president JP Nadda said that "it is a temple for the BJP workers, not an office. The plans for the development of the Northeast will get their shapes in this temple. Our efforts to make the party stronger in the region will continue. Our motto is - one nation, one thought and one legislation".

Union Home Minister Amit Shah said, "It was an ambitious plan. I was wondering how we are going to do it. The party has now successfully opened its biggest office in the region with love and hard work of our workers. This office is even better than our office in Delhi."

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said, "It is a golden day for the state BJP. On February 17, 2019, Amit Shah as party president laid the foundation stone of this office, besides attending the auspicious bhoomi pujan. And today, Shah as Union Home Minister and JP Nadda as national BJP president inaugurated the office and handed it over to the state BJP workers."

The Chief Minister said, "The Northeast and India scripted a new era under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. His farsightedness helped revived Indian culture and civilization. Under his leadership, India is dazzling in the world horizon."

He said, "The farsightedness and organizational skill of Home Minister Amit Shah have made BJP's 'horse of sacrifice' (Ghoda of Ashwamedha Yajna) running all over the country."

The Chief Minister said, "The BJP has its stronghold rooted like a banyan tree in Assam under the leadership of JP Nadda. The party is gaining strength in each booth in the state. The party is in the hearts of the people of the state."

Union Ministers Sarbananda Sonowal and Rameswar Teli, BJP's national vice president Baijayant Jay Panda, state BJP president Bhabesh Kalita, former Northeast in-charge of the party Ajay Jamwal and national BJP general secretary and MP Dilip Saikia were present at the programme, besides several former leaders of the party.

The office will serve as the party's headquarters in the region and is a six-storeyed building, built over an area of 60,000 square feet, with a guest house and a modern media centre. Built at around Rs 25 crore, it can accommodate around 5,000 people inside. The office also has five meeting halls and a 350-seater auditorium.

However, for BJP workers in the state, the journey of the party from a small rented house in the city's Uzan Bazar area to this modern architecture is nothing short of a dream come true.
