GUWAHATI: The Joint Action Committee of Recognized Unions (JACRU) of the Nagaon and Cachar paper mills has welcomed the State Cabinet's decision to release an amount of Rs 308 crore in accordance with the Government's agreement with the employees' unions. However, JACRU president Manobendra Chakraborty claimed that the relief package amount agreed upon in the agreement/MoU between the State Government and the unions/associations of the Hindustan Paper Corporation Limited on September 28, 2021, was actually Rs 570 crore.
Chakraborty has sought clarity on regarding the reduction in the relief package amount from Rs 570 crore to Rs 308 crore and also if and when the remaining fund will be released.
of the Nagaon and Cachar paper mills and the employees will now receive their arrear dues within a short time. Moreover, the Government will also fulfil its commitment for re-employing 100 employees of the defunct paper mills within a week, based on their qualifications.
