GUWAHATI: State BJP leader Jagadish Bhuyan has resigned from the BJP in protest against the passage of the CAB (Citizenship Amendment Bill). He was the chairman of the Assam Petrochemical Ltd.

Bhuyan was lifted to Chandmari playground where people from various walks of life were fasting against the passage of the CAB. “I decided to stand for my own State, not for the government when the CAB was passed by the Rajya Sabha. The CAA (Citizenship Amendment Act) is an anti-Assam Act which we can never accept. This has led us to stand with the people of the State leaving the government. In the days to come, I will always be with the people of the State and fight against the CAA,” he said.

Bhuyan further said, “For the past few years we’ve heard Samujjal Bhattacharya as saying that a section of former AASU leaders have joined many political parties and betray their own people. However, now Samijjalda can say with his chest puffed up in pride that all former AASU leaders aren’t the same. In the days ahead, we won’t just talk the talk, but walk the walk in our fight against the CAA.”
