GUWAHATI: The Janasankhya Samadhan Foundation (JSF) has congratulated Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma for completing one month as the CM of Assam. The JSF lauded the CM for taking the issue of population growth seriously during the election campaign.

Initiative to Control Population Growth in Assam

"Referring to the imbalance population growth of Assam, it is on record that during and before the Assam Assembly election Campaign 2021, JSF urged all the political parties including leaders to take this agenda on priority. However, it was only Himanta Biswa Sarma who took the issue of population growth seriously during the election campaigns," the JSF stated.

"Today (June 10), after completing one month term as the CM, he urged the minority community to adopt proper family planning policy to control population and reduce poverty. Further, he also stated that if this goes on then the day is not far that the Kamakhya Temple also will be encroached, just like120 bighas of Xatras in Darrang," the JSF pointed out.

In a release, the JSF underlined that the CM has urged AAMSU, AIDUF and other stakeholders of the minority community to take necessary steps to have a plan for population control, and stop unhealthy population growth in the State.

"On this occasion, we would like to take this opportunity to thank the CM once again for his due concern on population control. We would also like to urge his good governance to take necessary steps to enact a Population Control Law in Assam and entire India," the JSF said.
