GUWAHATI: Journalists' Forum Assam (JFA) expressed shock and grief over the demise of two media corona-warriors in Orissa within 24 hours. The media forum urges every scribe to be cautious and careful in safeguarding themselves and their families while performing their duties during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Media reports from Orissa (Odisha) confirmed that two working journalists – Priyadarshi Patnaik (46) and K Ratnam (75) – died of COVID-19 complications on 11 and 12 July 2020 respectively. Patnaik used to work for Oriya (Odia) daily newspaper Dainik Samaj as a correspondent from Ganjam district and died at a Bhubaneswar hospital after testing positive for Covid-19. Ratnam worked for Hyderabad based Telugu daily Eenadu and died of novel corona virus complications in Bhubaneswar.
