KAAC (Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council) poll: APCC declares first list

The APCC (Assam Pradesh Congress Committee) announced its first list of candidates for the KAAC (Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council) election today.

GUWAHATI: The APCC (Assam Pradesh Congress Committee) announced its first list of candidates for the KAAC (Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council) election today. The election will be on June 8, 2022. The party announced a list of 22 candidates in the 26-member Council. It will name four other candidates later.

APCC working president Rana Goswami today named the 22 candidates as Bijoy Teron (Duar Amla), Jennison Teron (Amri), Rupsing Bongrung (Chinthong), Sing Teron (Rongkhang), Kengbura Hanse (Bithung), Kareng Phangchopi (Kopili), Rupesh Bay (Hamren), Alice Engtipi (Ameng), Chandra Singh Teron (Hawraghat), Purnima Ranghangpi (Langpher), Dorsing Singnar (Phuloni), Rijendra Basumatary (Langhin), Sarjeng Engti (Kokanthi), Bidya Sing Rongpi (Mahamaya), Ashok Teron (Namati), Rajesh Timung (Socheng Dhengta), Ratul Teron (Lumbajong), Pradip Singnar (Singhason), Surendra Singnar (Borjan), Joysom Jeshing Rengma (Deopani), Samson Ingti (Nilip) and Rajen Engti (Duarbagori). The party is yet to name candidates for Socheng, Dhansiri, Sarupathar and Bokajan constituencies.

The last date for filing nominations is May 23, and the scrutiny of the nomination papers is on May 24. The last day for withdrawal of candidates is May 24, when State Election Commissioner (SEC) will publish the candidates in the fray.

The repoll, if any, will be on June 10. The counting of votes will be on June 12, 2022.
