Kamrup Metro DC Biswajit Pegu Forms Grievance Redressal Cell for COVID-19 Victims

The Kamrup Metro District Administration has formed a grievance redressal cell to address complaints related to COVID-19 treatment and cremation of COVID victims.

GUWAHATI: The Kamrup Metro District Administration has formed a grievance redressal cell to address complaints related to COVID-19 treatment and cremation of COVID victims. The cell has been formed by Kamrup Metro Deputy Commissioner Biswajit Pegu and he has appointed Additional Deputy Commissioner (Health), Joint Health Director, District Observer from Health Department, District Disaster Management Authority Project Officer, District NHM Project Management, and District Media Specialist as its members.

The people will be able to lodge their complaints at the toll-free numbers — 1077, 03612733052, and 9365423914 (WhatsApp).

The people can also register their complaints on 104 or through social media. The cell will be opened for 24 hours and the employees will work in three shifts. Already, a training programme has been concluded for all the employees of the cell. It is to be noted that the COVID situation was alarming in May. However, in the last few days, the situation has significantly improved.

From May 1 to June 5, a total of 39,653 positive cases were detected in Kamrup Metro. As many as 560 people lost their lives to the dreaded virus during the period.

From June 1-5, as many as 403 positive cases and seven deaths were registered. On June 2, 383 cases were detected, with four death cases. While 386 positive cases and five deaths were recorded on June 3, as many as 421 cases with six deaths were recorded on June 4. 276 positive cases and five death cases were registered on June 5.
