Kamrup Metropolitan administration to start eviction drive soon

The Gauhati High Court has ordered the Kamrup (M) district administration to start the eviction drive on the illegally occupied Government land

Guwahati: The district administration of Kamrup (Metro) will soon start an eviction drive in the government and semi-government properties, which have been illegally occupied for housing and business purpose.

Acting on a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed regarding the matter, the Gauhati High Court (HC) issued an order to the Kamrup (M) district administration. The order has directed the administration to ask all the individuals, families, and businesses, who have encroached the government and semi-government properties to vacate within 30 days of time.

The order said that no individual notice will be issued to the residences or businesses who have illegally occupied government properties.

In Guwahati, there are various places which have been illegally occupied by people and also, have built permanent construction on the land illegally. The eviction drive will start after 30 days of the notice.
